You are adopting through a national network

Animal-Angels Foundation is a Best Friends Network Partner, which connects us to the largest lifesaving network in the country. Our adoptable pets are also published to Adopt-a-Pet.com, the largest non-profit pet adoption website in North America. Through our Petco Love partnership, every adopter receives a 20 percent off coupon for Petco supplies on the day they take their new pet home. Wherever you find them, every adoption is supported by our 90-day Adoption Boost program and our Lifetime Return Policy.

HOW IT WORKS

Adoption, the way it should be

1. Browse and click

Find an animal whose story matches your home. Click their card to read their full profile, see all their photos, and learn what makes them special.

2. Apply directly

Each animal links to an adoption application from the partner organization that has them. You apply with the people who know the animal best.

3. We support the journey

Once adopted, our Adoption Boost program supports you and your new family member for the first 90 days. Training, supplies, and guidance when you need it.

QUESTIONS?

How adoption works at AAF

We do things a little differently here. Here is why.

What is your Lifetime Return Policy?

If you ever can no longer keep your pet, you can return them to AAF at any point in their life. No judgment, no questions about why. We will accept the pet as soon as foster space allows, and we will provide active rehoming support and Pet Help Desk triage if immediate intake is not possible. The full policy is at animal-angelsfoundation.org/downloads/AAF_Lifetime_Return_Policy.pdf.

What is the AAF Adoption Contract?

Every adoption is governed by a written contract that includes our lifetime return promise, vet care commitments, prohibitions on declawing and breeding, and protections for the pet. You can preview the full contract before you apply. The current version is at animal-angelsfoundation.org/downloads/AAF_Adoption_Contract.pdf.

What are the adoption fees?

Fees cover spay or neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and basic vet care from the foster period. AAF retains no profit from adoption fees. Senior pets are intentionally lower because they adopt slower and we want to remove price as a barrier for the right home.

  • Puppies (under 4 months): $250
  • Kittens (under 4 months): $250
  • Young Dogs (4 mo to 2 yr): $250
  • Young Cats (4 mo to 2 yr): $250
  • Adult Dogs (2 to 7 yr): $250
  • Adult Cats (2 to 7 yr): $250
  • Senior Dogs (7+ yr): $175
  • Senior Cats (7+ yr): $175
What is Adoption Boost?

The first 90 days after you bring your pet home are when most adoptions either lock in or fall apart. Adoption Boost gives you behavioral guidance, supply support, scheduled check-in calls, and a direct support line during those critical weeks. It is free, it starts the moment your pet comes home, and you do not have to ask twice. Learn more about Adoption Boost.

Why do you say "loving home" instead of "forever home"?

"Forever home" carries the weight of impossible promises. It treats any return as a moral failure. "Loving home" describes what your pet needs in the moment they enter it. The pet's life will continue to unfold, and the home may need to evolve. The home does not stop being a loving home if life changes. We use the second frame because it lets adopters reach for support when they need it instead of feeling shame.

What is the Pet Care Provision?

An optional one-page template we offer adopters to attach to their will or estate documents. It names a primary caregiver, a backup, and AAF as the contingent caregiver if no family member or friend can step in. Free to use. Download the template here.

What if my landlord does not allow pets?

That is what AAF's Bridge program is for. We work with landlords on pet-inclusive housing, help with pet deposits and pet rent, and help adopters work with their own licensed healthcare providers on ESA documentation when their situation supports it. Talk to us before you adopt if housing is uncertain. Pet Help Desk: (205) 754-7542 or toll-free (833) 754-7542.

How does the application process work?

You fill out an application that asks about your home, your household, your current and past pets, your vet, and a few commitments tied to the contract. We review and contact references and the vet. We schedule a meet and greet with the animal. If everyone is comfortable, we sign the contract and you take your pet home. Adoption Boost starts the same day.

Not ready to adopt? You can still help.

Foster an animal until they find a home. Volunteer at events. Donate to keep a family together. Every role keeps animals out of shelters.
